The Strategic Imperative

Four decades of sustainability education have not halted collapsing biodiversity or soaring emissions. Not because people don't care — but because the frame was wrong from the start. This curriculum is built on a different premise: that the capacity to participate regeneratively in the living world can be learned.

Beyond Sustainability

Sustainability aims to do "less harm." Regeneration aims to build the capacity for ecosystems and communities to actively heal and thrive. This curriculum positions your institution at the frontier of this epistemological shift.

Living Systems Intelligence

We cultivate essential 21st-century meta-skills: biomimetic design, complex systems thinking, and ecological embeddedness. Students learn to intervene in systems not as external mechanics, but as integral participants.

The Whole Person

Integrating the Regenerative Developmental Goals (RDGs)

While the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were a critical baseline, the future demands more than mitigation. We must actively restore.

This curriculum is fundamentally anchored in the Regenerative Developmental Goals (RDGs). The RDGs provide a rigorous framework for designing solutions that are ecologically rooted, socially just, and intrinsically restorative.

Course Architecture

A 14-Week Journey to Systemic Impact

Structured chronologically, the course moves from reshaping internal worldviews to mapping external systems, culminating in the practical design of regenerative interventions.

Establishing the philosophical and ecological grounding required for deep transformation.

  • Week 1: The Crisis of Perception: Deconstructing mechanistic worldviews. Introduction to the Regenerative Developmental Goals (RDGs) vs. SDGs.
  • Week 2: The Inner Landscape of the Changemaker: Cultivating psychological resilience, ecological grief processing, and discovering personal agency within living systems.
  • Week 3: Living Systems Theory: Principles of ecology, feedback loops, emergence, and understanding organizations and communities as living organisms.
  • Week 4: Developmental Lenses & Worldviews: Utilizing frameworks (e.g., Spiral Dynamics, Indigenous Epistemologies) to understand how different paradigms drive system behavior.

Equipping students with rigorous diagnostic tools to identify leverage points in complex systems.

  • Week 5: The Changemappers Canvas: Visualizing complex systemic challenges. Applying the RDG framework to assess ecosystem health.
  • Week 6: Power, Kinship, and Stakeholders: Redefining "stakeholders" to include non-human entities (Nature as a stakeholder). Analyzing power dynamics and coalition building.
  • Week 7: Regenerative Narratives: Moving from stories of scarcity to narratives of thrivability. The science of framing and mobilizing communication.
  • Week 8: Sustaining the Practitioner: Addressing burnout through collective care and practices derived from nature's cycles of rest and renewal.

Translating theory into high-leverage interventions across various sectors of society.

  • Week 9: Regenerative Enterprise & Biomimicry: Designing organizations modeled on nature. Exploring post-growth economics, circularity, and impact financing.
  • Week 10: Institutional Acupuncture: Strategies for policy innovation and transforming legacy institutions from the inside out and outside in.
  • Week 11: Technologies of Coordination: Evaluating AI, decentralization, and the digital commons through an ethical and ecological lens.
  • Week 12: Bioregionalism & Community Weaving: Relocalizing impact. Participatory design methods for empowering grassroots community resilience.

The capstone experience: students present fully developed proposals for systemic regeneration.

  • Week 13: Project Defense & Peer Review: Teams present their 'Regenerative Changemaps', judged on systemic rigor, RDG alignment, and practical viability.
  • Week 14: The Lifelong Practice: Final integration. Developing a personal thesis for one's role in the Great Turning and mapping future pathways for continued impact.
