Replacing GDP with Civilization-Scale Dashboards
Current economic systems optimize for GDP, often at the expense of ecological capital and social cohesion. The RDG framework mandates a shift to Integrated Inner-Outer Metrics. This includes the WISE framework (Wellbeing, Inclusion, Sustainability) and Genuine Progress Indicators (GPI).
The Gaming Problem: Replacing GDP with a dashboard creates new targets for manipulation. RDG 28 requires independent statistical agencies and mixed-methods validation to prevent "Goodhart's Law" (when a measure becomes a target, it ceases to be a good measure).
